Edison asked our partners in crime Syntetik to put the ecologic coffee brand Java in the picture. More people deliver more brain and programming fingers so we happily joined forces with Syntetik.

The logo of the Rainforest Alliance, a little frog, quickly got our mind thinking about psychedelic colors (no we didn’t kissed our little green friends) so we decided to give the frogs a voice and some different natural and not so natural colors. At opkikkernodig.be you can create your own frog, grab some free coffee, win a trip to Costa Rica for 2 and even send your “pink” frog to your friends.

I have never been a in a god believing person but when the guys of Resilion asked me to join forces to build a website for “catholic” children there was no moment of doubt. After a few months of meetings, initial sketches and a lot of brainstorming we started the well known production rush to deliver the project. Wednesday 7th of May the Belgium cardinal and some kids presented the project to the press.

I’m always getting an adrenalin kick when delivering a project, but seeing those kids playing and praising our project was amazing.

What i really like is how the Flemish catholic church is webmastering this site. Kids can always have a confidential talk with a  pedagogue. Group chats are always moderated and there is absolutely no direct communication between the visitors of the site, making this site a save place for kids to express their thoughts.

After spending almost three beautiful years four days a week at multimediacollege and 1 day a week at my own little company i decided to make the big switch. From tomorrow on i will be spending my days searching my own clients, doing my own projects and most of all living at my own pace.

Its not a goodbye to multimediacollege, i think we can see it more like another way of working together. In the near future you will still find my in front of the mmc classroom, talking about flash, air and maybe some flex (the more creative side).

What is going on at Dreams & Creations at the moment? Together with syntetik we’re finishing up the Cercled’O site and starting up some other very cool projects. For an Antwerp based agency we’re building two corporate websites. And in the first week of May we will launch together with Resilion an amazing playground for children between 8 and 12 years old. In the spare moments i try working on some experiments and writing my first conference presentation.

And than the question i hear the most: “When will there be a portfolio site?” The answer: “We’re working on it, it will be online somewhere this year ;-). One spoiler maybe? Think Rubik!”.

Last week we were building an AIR kiosk application. Everything went perfect until we installed the application at the client’s kiosk.

The basic idea of the kiosk is that you can record a video message. We used actionscript 3 connected to flash media server 2 to record the voice and audio. Around this we added some AIR to write the filename and some other details to a local sqllite database.

The problem occurred when we installed the AIR app on a windows computer (it was build on Mac). Sometimes the audio is recorded sometimes not. We weren’t able to figure out what was going wrong. After to much hours we removed the AIR wrapper and rewrote the app to use a local php, mysql server.

In the following week i will extract the problematic code and test it with the new fms3.

Together with klikfabriek we created the portfolio site of the famous Belgian designer Danny Venlet. Klikfabriek was responsible for design and Dreams & Creations made everything alive.
