Very nice and inspiring day at Multi-Mania. My session went down very well, a little bit short but i had a great time.
We started the day with an Adobe keynote presented by Serge and Jason. Serge showed briefly flash cs4, Jason showed us the speech to text function that may or may be not in future version of Premiere.
Aral gave an inspirring session about “Ruling the web in 32 steps“. End conclusion as a flash developer we have to learn the web.
Next “We are Hoox”. Not the most interesting session for me but amasing what you can do with maps and 3D.
Next up Wim Vanhenden with “Having fun with FLASH and AIR”. Realy cool (Wims middle name) session, what i liked was that somebody is showing that you still can use Flash for making trendy apps.
I ended the day conference day with “pixel whisperer”, Mario Klingeman. Amazing stuff what you can with graphics and mathematics.
At the award show the mct and dae students showed their best work. Keynote speaker Hoss Gifford gave amusing show of his latest work. Lesson learned: Narrative and simple.
I’m not going to talk about the after party and the after after party. But i had a very nice time with a lot of beers and champagne (thx for that Hoss).
Koen, Klaus, Wouter, Christel, Ellen, Claudia, Jynse and the rest of the crew did an amazing job!
Edison asked our partners in crime Syntetik to put the ecologic coffee brand Java in the picture. More people deliver more brain and programming fingers so we happily joined forces with Syntetik.
The logo of the Rainforest Alliance, a little frog, quickly got our mind thinking about psychedelic colors (no we didn’t kissed our little green friends) so we decided to give the frogs a voice and some different natural and not so natural colors. At opkikkernodig.be you can create your own frog, grab some free coffee, win a trip to Costa Rica for 2 and even send your “pink” frog to your friends.
I have never been a in a god believing person but when the guys of Resilion asked me to join forces to build a website for “catholic” children there was no moment of doubt. After a few months of meetings, initial sketches and a lot of brainstorming we started the well known production rush to deliver the project. Wednesday 7th of May the Belgium cardinal and some kids presented the project to the press.
I’m always getting an adrenalin kick when delivering a project, but seeing those kids playing and praising our project was amazing.
What i really like is how the Flemish catholic church is webmastering this site. Kids can always have a confidential talk with a pedagogue. Group chats are always moderated and there is absolutely no direct communication between the visitors of the site, making this site a save place for kids to express their thoughts.

Multi-mania has always been one of my favourite multimedia events. First as student, later as attendee, last 2 years as speaker. It all started as a very small award show, now a full day event with 5 tracks and a lot of international speakers. And for the first time it’s fully booked.
